Every pool project is different, but most follow a similar path. Here is a general timeline for starting in fall or winter and swimming by summer. Actual timing depends on design, permits, and weather.
Now Through December: Dream and Design
Share your wishlist, visit your yard with a designer, and explore shapes, finishes, and features. Request your free quote and discuss budget and financing.
January and February: Finalize and Permit
Finalize the design, sign your agreement, and submit permit applications. If your neighborhood has an HOA, approvals are handled in this window too.
March and April: Build Begins
When the ground and weather allow, excavation and construction begin. Most installations take roughly 6-10 weeks depending on the design and conditions.
May and June: Splash
With construction wrapping up, the finishing touches are completed, water balanced, and your pool is ready for its first swim.
Why Starting Early Matters
Each stage depends on the one before it. Starting early keeps your project from being squeezed into a short season. See our full Plan Now, Swim By Summer guide, or learn about pool installation.
